I’m sure everyone knows what a potty chair is so I won’t go into that, they’re easy to use, they’re toddler friendly, they’re portable, but they’re a pain to clean, at least some models. Here are the best potty chairs for potty training your child.
BABYBJORN Potty Chair
The Baby Bjorn potty chair is one of the most popular potties, mostly because it’s very solid and it’s practical. Because of the removable pot, it’s easier to clean than a normal one-piece potty chair. It has a high backrest and a pee guard for boys.

It makes the transition to a normal size toilet easier for your child.
Summer Infant Lil’ Loo Potty
The Lil’ Loo potty chair is similar in design to the Baby Bjorn potty and it comes at half the price, but the plastic is not as strong as Baby Bjorn’s. This is an awesome travel potty chair because it’s small and lightweight. The removable bowl makes it easy to clean.

Some people call’em potty seats, some call them potty inserts. The point is, they go on your toilet seat to reduce it’s size to fit your toddler’s bottom. The #1 rule when buying a potty seat is to make sure it’s comfortable to sit on and it’s stable, no “slide all over the place” cheap stuff. The best part about potty seats is that you don’t have to clean up after your child. Here are the best ones to buy.
Mommy’s Helper Contoured Cushie Step Up
The Mommy’s Helper potty seat comes with a ladder which saves you from also buying a step stool. It has a soft, comfortable seat which toddlers seem to like and it sits securely on the toilet seat. It’s a foldable potty seat which is great if you’re traveling and want a portable seat.
Bemis 1483SLOW NextStep SLOW Closing Potty Seat
The Bemis 1483Slow NextStep potty seat replaces your normal toilet seat. Both you and your child can use it and once he’s outgrown it the mini seat can be removed. It’s very easy to install and it’s solid. It also has a slow-close mechanism which makes it impossible for your child to hurt his fingers when closing it.
BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer
The Baby Bjorn potty training seat is very comfortable and it fits perfectly on all shapes and sizes toilet seats (travel friendly). It’s very stable and because of the rounded edges it makes it easy for your child to get on and off all by himself with the help of a step stool.

Your child will need a step stool first of all to help him or her climb on the potty seat and secondly to reach the sink for handwashing. You can use the same stool for both activities if you don’t mind moving it around.

Potty Training Pants
Potty training pants are made from cotton with an absorbent inner layer or a waterproof outer layer. They give your child the satisfaction of wearing “big kid” underwear while at the same time keeping his clothes dry in case any potty training accident happens.
Some parents skip the potty training pants and go directly for regular underwear when potty training their child. What I did was regular underwear during the day and training pants during nighttime, just in case any accidents might happen.
Potty Training Books
When it comes to potty training books, there are basically 2 kinds of books, for parents and for children. The ones for parents are guides ment to help you successfully potty train your child. While on the other hand the potty training books for children are stories that are ment to engage and motivate them on using the potty.
Potty Training Videos & Songs
Potty training DVDs can really help to get your toddler interested in the potty training routines you’re trying to teach him. They’re fun and engaging and it seems that most kids enjoy watching and listening to them.
Sesame Street – Elmo’s Potty Time
Elmo’s Potty Time is one the most popular potty training DVDs available. It’s an amusing story that your child will enjoy watching. The DVD shows your toddler that everyone – mothers, fathers, brothers, friends and even monsters – needs to learn how to use the potty.
If you want a positive, interactive approach to potty training that will get you singing and dancing with your little one, then this DVD is perfect.
Potty Power is another awesome potty training DVD you can play for your kid. Kids really enjoy this DVD. It’s fun, it’s entertaining and it teaches your child about the potty training process, encouraging him to start using the potty instead of peeing and pooping in his diaper.
All the songs and stories in Potty Power are acted out by real toddlers who show your child how to become potty trained and have potty power.
Potty Training Sticker Charts
Sticker charts are one of the most effective potty training rewards in motivating your child to keep trying and it’s a shame that they’re so underused by many parents who stick to candy or toys.
A fun way to use stickers and this works great especially for boys, is instead of sticking them on reward charts, you stick them on your sons clothes to look like military medals. I did this with both my sons and they really loved it, more then anything else actually.
And you don’t even have to spend money on charts since there are so many free printable templates available online. In fact you can download 40 printable potty training reward charts here.
Stickers I think you need to buy. Go here for the most popular potty training stickers on Amazon.
Potty Training Games
Games make potty training a more fun activity for your child and it keeps him interested in doing the routines.
Let’s Potty! Potty Training Board Game!
Let’s Potty! is an amusing, positive way to get started with potty training. It helps introduce your child to the basics of potty training. The way to play it is just like a classic board game. You and your child follow the toilet paper trail through the house to the potty guided by Rolly, along the way learning potty training language. It’s great for boys as well as girls.
Potty Scotty and Potty Patty Dolls
Potty training dolls are another fun way to spend time with your child while you’re teaching him or her how to use the potty. By teaching the doll how to go potty your child is learning at the same time.
They’re very flexible and they come with 2 feeding bottles and 3 potty training pants.
Nighttime Training Supplies
When it comes to potty training during nighttime the game changes completely. If you want to know how to survive nighttime toilet training read my post with 7 nighttime potty training tips here.
Here’s what I suggest you get for bedtime potty training:

Bedwetting alarm – these alarms feature a light sound and vibration wake-up system, they have sensors that quickly detect the first drop of pee, waking up your child before he starts going, they work for boys aswell as girls. The best bedwetting alarms are the Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm and the Wet-Stop3.
Clevamama Toilet Training Sleep Mat – the Clevamama sleep mat is made out of a waterproof polyurethane layer that’s place between 2 soft layers of brushed cotton. It’s machine washable and tumble dry safe.
